Christian Black serves as principal accompanist at Greenwood, and regularly provides piano and organ music for our worship services and concerts. She began studying piano at age three and violin at age five. Christian’s aptitude for music and ability to perform in many styles have been highlighted in her clarinet and trumpet performances with several jazz and wind ensembles. She is also a performer of organ, piano, percussion, guitar, alto saxophone, oboe, flute, french horn, trombone, euphonium, and vocal music in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Christian has participated in the Chaminade Club Scholarship Music Festival, the RIMEA All-State and Solo and Ensemble Festivals, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble, the Chopin Club of Rhode Island, and the East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble. She is an active member of the Barrington music program, and in her spare time, she composes and arranges choral and orchestral music. Christian provides tremendous support to our ministry of music, using her many and varied gifts to offer strong musical leadership in this church.
